4.0kw PV Solar System

Solar panel electricity systems, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting. PV solar panels can generate electricity for all household needs and if you have a heat pump installed, this provides free heating too. A consultation with us about how your installation will work best is strongly advised in advance.

PV cells are made from layers of semi-conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers. The stronger the sunshine, the more electricity is produced. Groups of cells are mounted together in panels or modules that can either be mounted on your roof or on the ground. The power of a PV cell is measured in kilowatts peak (kWp). That is the rate at which it generates energy at peak performance in full direct sunlight during the summer.

Solar PV needs little maintenance – you'll just need to keep the panels relatively clean and make sure trees don't begin to overshadow them. In Ireland, panels that are tilted at 15° or more have the benefit of being cleaned by rainfall to ensure optimal performance. Debris is more likely to accumulate if you have ground mounted panels.

The benefits of solar electricity

Renewable Energy Source

PV solar generates electricity using sunlight, a renewable and abundant source of energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and helping combat climate change.

Low Operating Costs

Once installed, PV solar systems have minimal operating and maintenance costs, making them cost-effective over the long term.

Reduced Electricity Bills

By generating your own electricity, you can lower or even eliminate your monthly electricity bills, saving money in the process.

Environmental Benefits

PV solar produces no greenhouse gas emissions or air pollutants, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment.

Energy Independence

Generating your own power from solar energy provides a degree of energy independence and resilience against energy price fluctuations.

Job Creation

The solar industry creates jobs in manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and research, contributing to local economies.

Technological Advancements

Ongoing research and innovation are leading to more efficient and affordable solar technologies, making PV solar increasingly accessible.

Long Lifespan

PV solar panels typically have a long lifespan, often lasting 25-30 years or more, providing reliable electricity generation over an extended period.

Scalability

PV solar systems can be tailored to different energy needs, from small residential installations to large-scale commercial and utility projects.

Grid Stability

Distributed solar installations can help stabilize the grid by reducing peak demand and strain during high energy consumption periods.

SEAI GRANTS and Tax Benefits

There are currently SEAI grants available of up to €2,100 and 0% VAT.

Remember that the specific benefits you experience may vary based on factors such as location, system size, local regulations, and energy consumption patterns.
